[tonight in allston] Young Adults tour kickoff @ O'Briens + cassingle release + Ride cover
Quick shout to YOUNG ADULTS, who kick off their five-date mini-tour tonight at O'Brien's Pub in Allston. Feels like forever since the punk trio released debut record Black Hole off AMDISCS back in 2010, but now with a more stable lineup featuring former Protokoll bassist Daniel J. O'Neill, the Band O' Brothers Villon is ready to unleash some new tunege.
For this slate of live shows they'll release a cassingle featuring two new tracks, "Born In '91" and "Context." And the digital download includes a pretty cool bonus cut, a cover of Ride's shoegaze classic "Decay," originally included on the upcoming Nofuckingwhere compilation, which finds a dozen Boston bands like Soccer Mom, Guillermo Sexo, Eldridge Rodriguez, etc., recreating Ride's classic 1990 album in its entirety for the Clicky Clicky music blog -- but more on that display of full-frontal awesome in next week's Phoenix, ahem. In the meantime, two other bands on the comp, BDRM Eyes and Chandeliers, are on tonight's O'Brien's bill.
The two new Young Adults songs were among a batch of seven or so, recorded with Ben Greenspan at his Watertown studio. It's good to see the old Protokoll connection still going strong. #neverforget #stillmovingforward
