Entertainment Coordinator Job Description March 2012
Bella Luna Restaurant & The Milky Way Lounge is now hiring a part-time Entertainment Coordinator to join our team. Our unique neighborhood venue is a restaurant, bar and lounge located at The Brewery Complex, 284 Amory Street in Jamaica Plain. Established in 1993, this landmark gathering spot is recognized for excellent customer service, delicious food and cocktails, and diverse entertainment and live music offerings.
Candidates for this position should be knowledgable about and active in Boston's local music scene; have at least two years experience booking, promoting and organizing entertainment events; be comfortable working in a fast-paced stimulating environment; have strong organizational and computer skills including Excel, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe Photoshop; enjoy working with a team; and have a positive friendly attitude.
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
1) Booking and Coordinating Nightly Entertainment:
Identifying performers/DJs for Wednesday through Saturday nights
Meeting nighttime sales goals and customer goals as determined by General Manager
Maintaining and managing weekly performance nights; transitioning to new entertainment when necessary
Negotiating contracts, door deals and other details
Communicating all necessary information to performers pre-show: load-in times, lineup of performers, sound information, hospitality
Coordinating with Sound Department the sound engineer schedule and maintenance and operation of our sound system
Communicating all entertainment information to the door staff, bar staff and Management Team
Recording and evaluating after entertainment sales and guest counts
2) Promoting Nightly Entertainment:
Producing Monthly Calendar for dissemination around city, posting in-house at Bella Luna & The Milky Way Lounge
Producing professional flyers for nightly entertainment, or coordinating production of flyers by performers according to venue guidelines
Coordinating regular flyering around Jamaica Plain and at other venues and high visibility locations in Boston and Cambridge
Posting all show information in-house, keeping it current and up-to-date
Producing high quality weekly entertainment email promotion to send out to press, customer database, and staff
Maintaining an up-to-date comprehensive entertainment press list
Developing and maintaining relationships with entertainment writers
Writing and sending press releases for shows as needed; press releases must be sent one month prior to date of show
Maintaining and updating the milkywayjp.com website, Facebook page, and twitter feed
Posting our upcoming entertainment on all relevant web sites and blogs
The Bookings and Promotions Coordinator will be supervised by the General Manager. 15 hours per week, hourly rate of pay commensurate with experience.
