Leedz Edutainment taking over Middle East Upstairs
DAN MILLEN is out as booking agent of the Middle East Upstairs in Cambridge, replaced by NED WELLBERY of LEEDZ EDUTAINMENT.
Leedz is a leading hip-hop promoter around the Boston region, but the live music venue today told the Phoenix that no changes to its booking practices will be noticable.
"He'll do just as many shows as he has been doing, but [hip-hop] is not going to be the focus of his tenure here," said Middle East spokesperson Clay Fernald. "He'll be like a traffic director, like Shred is Downstairs. We're all here to support him and he's now in-house to so we'll all help."
Fernald said Millen, who operates as Rock On Concerts, is "still welcome to do shows" at the Middle East, but will no longer be the primary talent buyer for the 200-person-capacity upstairs room.
He was hired full-time by the venue in September 2010, replacing Kieran Fallon.
