New Garbage record out May 15
Seven years is just way to long for a Shirley Manson dry spell.
Revered '90s alt-rock hit-makers GARBAGE finally revealed deets on their upcoming fifth studio record -- Not Your Kind of People drops May 15 on their own STUNVOLUME label, and it's the band's first since effort 2005's kinda spotty Bleed Like Me. This morning Garbage also announced some tour dates (they're all in Russia and Europe), provided some press quotes to get us all hottt, and last week even wrapped a teaser video around our fast-beating hearts.
Press quote take 1: "Working with Garbage again was very instinctual," says Duke Erikson. "Like getting on a bicycle...with three other people. We haven't felt this good about a Garbage record since the last one!"
Press quote take 2: "Thinking about going back on the road is both thrilling and terrifying in equal measure," says Shirley Manson. "But we've always enjoyed a little pain mixed in with our pleasure."
The good stuff, including some audio clips, is below... especially when Butch Vig offers this nugget: "It sounds vibe-wise, like the first two Garbage records, though it doesn't sonically sound like those records."
I might have been the only one who actually liked 2001's Beautiful Garbage -- this shoulda been a megahit! -- but any return to form is fine by me. Mid-'90s tracks like "Vow" and "Fix Me Now" are still unfuckwithable.
Any New England tour dates will be posted as soon as we get'em.
