[awesome video alert] Yale, Massachusetts "Danger City Population: Me"
The history of rock concerts are littered (get it?) with performers getting shit thrown at them while playing live on-stage: Sebastian Bach famously got bottle-bopped opening for Aerosmith in Springfield in '89, minute-famed pop fairies Daphne & Celeste were bombarded with anything remotely tossable at Reading 2000, and even Axl Rose has his own personal 'bottle incident' two years ago in Sao Paolo. It comes with the territory, whether you're Nickelback or The Naked And Famous. Score a direct hit on Justin Bieber, and it inspires a YouTube remix with 5 million views.
But every now and again a band is just asking for it, and we don't mean the way the Skid Row frontman was probably asking for it.
In the new Daniel Danger-directed music video for "Danger City, Population: ME" by YALE, MASSACHUSETTS, the pop-punk band holed up in a practice studio -- which somehow has the vibe of the trash compactor from the first Death Star -- and enlisted friends, fans, and foes to pelt the living piss out of them for two minutes of fury that matches up nicely with the track.
Out came the works -- skateboards, Christmas trees, hockey sticks, children's toys, plates, records... hell, one mysterious LP gashed up Roger Lussier's grill and got him bloodied, though his bandmates are convinced the culprit was actually "something orange." Given the damage caused, we're sure as fuck it wasn't Carl Crawford throwing it, that's for sure.
On The Download, however, is pleased to report that Lussier is doing fine, and didn't require stitches. "That was during the 3rd take and we did two more after, it had already stopped bleeding by the 5th one," the Rog's reports this afternoon. "After the shoot, I was walking home and decided to go to Blanchard's to get some wine. I got into the store and when I went to give them my ID I realized that my hand still had dried blood on it. It was almost an hour later and I hadn't even looked at the cut yet. They probably thought I was a vagrant of some sort."
Pro tip: Please don't throw shit at Yale, Massachusetts when they play Great Scott with the Jealous Sound on February 14. They just might pull an Axl on you.
