Full line-up + compilation for Ladyfest Boston, February 3-5 @ Cambridge YMCA

Independent versions of LADYFEST have taken place internationally for over ten years. And next month, Boston finally hosts a DIY feminist music festival of its own, February 3-5 at the Cambridge YMCA.

LADYFEST BOSTON includes three days of local and touring bands. The line-up crosses boundaries of scenes and sounds, ranging from noise pop and garage rock to grrrl-punk and hardcore. But every act playing includes lady band members, all with a similar affinity towards smashing sexism in music and connecting feminists in the arts. There will also be workshops, DJs, DIY vendors, record labels/distros, and free vegetarian and vegan food.

Following the final performances at Sunday's show, the Cambridge YMCA will host the first open meeting for a new feminist collective, Permanent Wave Boston -- a sure sign that the energy and efforts of Ladyfest Boston's organizers will continue past February 5. PWB is a new chapter of the NYC-based feminist collective Permanent Wave, who have been calling for "Revolution Lady Style Now" at their shows and events around New York for over a year. Similar chapters have sprung up this year in Philadelphia and California's Bay Area

Tickets are $15 per day or $35 for all three days, and can be purchased online. All proceeds go directly to paying the bands and to the Eastern Massachusetts Abortion Fund, an organization that has helped women pay for abortions since 1999.
