[double] MP3 of the Week: Badknight "Rewind" + Caleb Groh "Catastrophic Culprit"
From the growing GHouse collective come two new artists poised to break out in 2012. BADKNIGHT, a Boston-based lullaby-pop duo of Emily Lenae and Devin McKnight, released debut record It’s Alright just last month, and standout track “Rewind” is an ethereal, acoustic drifter that positions Lenae as the weekday-daydream answer to Harriet Wheeler’s Sundays. Meanwhile, CALEB GROH’s freshly served Bottomless Coffee album finds the rising folk singer-songwriter in fun, authentic style. On the road-weary “Catastrophic Culprit,” Groh — the son of a military man born in Connecticut but who found his voice in Florida as the Happiest Lion — displays a loose, uplifting storytelling ease that should place the Lynn resident’s name on more discerning lips in the national-buzz kissing booth. The pair doll up Great Scott in Allston tonight (Thursday) with fellow riser and Berklee alumna Julia Easterlin, she of hypnotic covers of Radiohead and the Pixies. We’re so excited over Badknight and Groh, we made this week’s giveaway a double-shot: secure both MP3s below.
