GWAR's Flattus Maximus sets out on the Road Behind
With yesterday's news of the sudden death of FLATTUS MAXIMUS, the guitarist of metal band GWAR who was born less salaciously as Cory Smoot, I couldn't help but think of the band's '90s ballad "The Road Behind." Smoot's cause of death is so far unexplained, but his body was found Thursday on the GWAR tour bus as it prepared for a border crossing.
This one's for you, Flatty, travel proud that road behind. And Oderus Urungus -- get your shit together, man. No one is invincible. Not even GWAR.
