[phx pop-up show no.2] Caleb Groh performs live in Ringer Park, Allston
Allston's Ringer Park never felt so pleasant and picturesque as on one late-summer Friday afternoon, when Team Phoenix Pop-Up Vids met up with local songwriter CALEB GROH. The young singer-guitarist stood high on a rock amid some trees, swirling folksy guitar plucks with his twangy Americana-tinged vocal rasp, for three entrancing songs: "Salt Water Gallivanter," "Bathsheba Blues," and "Quick-Tempered Conqueror."
The videos from our session are an excellent introduction to the uplifting and authentic vibes to be expected from Caleb Groh's next full-length record, Botomless Coffee, due around Thanksgiving. In advance of that, Groh posted a new EP on his Bandcamp last month -- high-spirited folk tunes ranging from the introspective slow-burner to the energetic foot-stomping jam. On top of that, his music recently appeared on a split-release double-EP with the Pomegranates, and he also has an incredible cover of "Colors of the Wind" on a new compilation of Disney songs. Catch Caleb Groh live at the Aviary Gallery in Jamaica Plain on November 17 with Jeff Pianki and Badknight, and check out the three vids from our pop-up show, below:
