[awesome video alert] M83 "Midnight City"
M83 - Midnight City (Clip Officiel) by Spi0n
And finally, there are appropriately magical sights to those legendary sounds. I mean, not that we didn't enjoy staring at that weird goblin creepoid featured on the artwork to M83's instant classic “Midnight City” every day on repeat since its July release. But having an equally-magnetic video to visualize the skyward electronic gaze of this Song of the Year contender is a nice treat before tomorrow's official unveiling of Hurry Up, We're Dreaming.
Directed by Fluer & Manu, the video isn't exactly what I envision when I hear "Midnight City," meaning there's no images of a smiling Anthony Gonzalez peering down from the heavens as kittens and ferrets freely surf rainbows together through time-frozen city streets paved in Fancy Feast and Whisker Lickin's ("City is my purrrrrrr!!!"). Instead, we get a bunch of kids breaking out of some oppressive paranormal institution, only to run amok in an abandoned warehouse and telekinetically break shit.
That works, too.
