MP3 of the Week: Casey Desmond "Talking To God"
After seeing her sing to a national television audience this spring on NBC’s The Voice, it feels like we, as a city, are somehow still getting to know CASEY DESMOND. A veteran of the Boston music scene since her 2005 self-titled debut record, Desmond appears ready for mainstream lift-off on the strength of the glittery electro-pop she always seemed destined to sing. New single “Talking to God” is a sparkly, saucy synth-pop pick-up line (“You’re like crack/In the sack/And it should be a crime”) that shares a smidge of sonic DNA with the song that got her on The Voice, Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way.” While she’s busy lending a dance-floor mentality to remixes of Stereo Telescope and Andre Obin, Desmond has also teamed up with Boston producers Dark & Stormy and Clever Girl for a whirlwind of beats, synths, and sass on the “Talking to God” remixes. Grab the original below, and kickstart your dance party.
