[awesome video alert] Have Nots "Louisville Slugger" + mp3 + Billy Ruane doc
Boston-based director MICHAEL GILL strikes again. Last year, Gill's Circumvision production company took home "Video Of The Year" honors at the 2010 Boston Music Awards for the HAVE NOTS' "Used To Be," and today he unveiled another visually-striking video from the acclaimed Boston punk band, for the hard-hitting "Louisville Slugger."
The shout-it-out song was our Mp3 of the Week back in May, when Barry Thompson noted the song is "a rousing reminder that it’s beyond uncool to slap your significant other around." Here, Gill adds the sights to the sounds that resonate pretty deeply about a woman in a shitty situation and her male friends who want to step in and swing the ol' wood around in her defense.
It's the latest A+ video from Gill, the drummer of the recently reunited Damn Personals who also won "Best Video In Boston" in our 2010 Boston Phoenix/WFNX Best Music Poll (for Televandals' "Good For Nothing"). In addition, Gill just finished up the new Dropkick Murphys video, and has also done sterling work for the Lights Out, Roadsaw, State Radio, Damone, Wheat, and his latest project, the Murder Mile.
Gill is also busy at work on a documentary about the late Billy Ruane, an extension of the Unsung Hero clip he created for last year's BMA. Anyone with video or photo footage they'd be willing to share are asked to contact Gill at goosegill@gmail.com.
