Boston Accents playlist 09.18.11: War Prez, Water Moccasins, Bynars, NHHymnal+

Photobucket

Here's the playlist from tonight's show, kicking off with a bit of a dance party tip before cruising through new jams from War Presidents, Water Moccasins, the Bynars, New Highway Hymnal, Vanzetti and a few we debuted last week, like hott jams from Viva Viva and Township. Hang with us next Sunday at 8pm only on WFNX.com or on that sexy radio dial, 101.7 FM. One love.

ROGUEWAVES, “Ruins” -- Lost 2009 electro anthem from Allston production/DJ duo of Justincredible and Zak Broman, featuring Keely Bumford of Black Kettle (Boston/LA) on vocals. I first wrote about it on Vanyaland; the Mediafire link still works!

HERRA TERRA, “Lost In Labyrinth” -- Central Mass beatmakers, this was once a Phoenix Mp3 of the Week

ANDRE OBIN, “Cinnamon (Casey Desmond remix)” -- Boston-based solo electronic artist Obin opens the Peter Hook show Tuesday at the Paradise, after we kidnap the Joy Division/New Order bassist and let him takeover WFNX from 7 to 8pm.

FREEZEPOP, “Magnetic” -- Ace track off last year's Imaginary Friends, which won Album/EP of the Year in our last Best Music Poll.

VIVA VIVA, “Hailing A Cab In Hell” – New joint off upcoming What’s The Kim Deal EP, featured in this week’s Boston Phoenix fall preview.

THE NEW HIGHWAY HYMNAL, “Blackened Hands” – Brand spankin' new song from the Haverhill quartet’s upcoming 10-inch. This song is just straight up dirty rock and roll. Someone sign this fucking band. They're playing a Pelly Twins show a week from tonight, Sunday at Great Scott.

WATER MOCCASINS, “Gone” – Lead track off July’s Broken Tone EP, now available for free download. This relatively new project out of Dover, New Hampshire has some family ties to the MMOSS clan.Interview with Aaron coming later this week on On The Download.

VANZETTI, “Churchjumper” -- From a 2011 four-track EP that clocks in at nearly 30 minutes. Named after Massachusetts robbers/murderers Vanzetti or Sacco

WAR PRESIDENTS, “Fordham” -- Off July’s Out of Style EP, the Allston band was featured in our Fall Preview, new EP due in October called Minnesoda, catch them Tuesday at Precinct, Sept. 25 at All Asia, and Oct. 25 at the Middle East.

THE BYNARS, “Every Little Thing You Love” – Oh shit, it's a ballad! They’re making a video for it, but you can get the track for free come Monday morning via Bandcamp (link will be active on 9/19).

CAMDEN, “Mustangs” – Stellar gem off this year's Totally Fine EP, Camden played last night at TT The Bear's with Reading Rainbow and Eternal Summers. You shoulda been there, it was rad. More on that in Thursday's Phoenix.

TOWNSHIP, “All Your Stufff” -- From new record One More Summer, released on Oct. 1 at Brighton Music Hall. Good stufffffff, sounds like Aerosmith before they got shitty.

SOCCER MOM, “(A) Natural History” -- Kicking off new 10-inch You Are Not Going To Heaven which gets the release party treatment this Friday at TT The Bear’s with Emergency Music, Autochrome and Marconi. Peep what I wrote in Fall Preview, and check back on OTD Thursday to score the track for free.

STATIC OF THE GODS, “White Flag” -- Playing the Middle East tomorrow night with AM and Shawn Lee. It’s their tour kickoff show!

HOUR TWOOOOOOO

STEREO TELESCOPE, “Geography” -- Photogenic synthpop duo – excuse me, trio, as they added a new drummer, INXS superfan Luke from Left Hand Does

SPF 5000, “White Hot Fantasy” – Spent this lovely Sunday shooting a new video for "P.O.T.S." – and since that stands for "Pussy On That Shit," who knows if we’ll ever be able to play it on WFNX.

BLACK LIGHT DINNER PARTY, “Older Together” -- From January 2010, but still quite fresh and clean. Hopefully we’ll get a follow up from this year's single, Mp3 of the Week'er “Small Boxes,” later this fall from the anonymous Boston/NYC four-man producer collective.

DOM, “Burn Bridges” – Older track from Dom, who just moved to Brooklyn. Bro, c’mon.

DO NOT FORSAKE ME OH MY DARLING, “Sweet Dreams” – Eurythmics cover, featuring guest vocals from Glenn DiBennedetto of Parlour Bells. UPDATE: The Faces Demolition Party is looking like it’ll happen first or second week of October, one afternoon at 11:30am -- so who knows if it'll be a lame ass ribbon cutting or a wild-out party. Either way, looks like the Bells will be involved.

GIRLFRIENDS, “Sucking Rare Meat Off The Bone China” – Boston's lovable garage rock trio, playing tomorrow night (Monday) at Great Scott with Vivian Girls and Widowspeak.

EARTHQUAKE PARTY, “Brains” – From the live EP we recorded and gave away while naming them this summer’s Best New Band in Massachusetts in 50 Bands 50 States.

GENTLEMEN HALL, “Our Love Is All We Have” – Boston dudes just played a WFNX show at Brighton Music Hall with Funeral Party. Good times, it was. I heard.

SECRET SATELLITES, “Inseperable” – Fairly newish project featuring Jessica Sun Lee formerly of the Sun Lee Sunbeam, which also featured…

MOUNT PERU, “Summer Jinx” -- …Mary Flately, who now plays in Mount Peru. This track was a former MP3 of the Week'ers for the Phoenix, and I’m sure they’ll play it live when they play PAs Lounge this Friday!

BONFIRE BANDIT, “Freaks On The Run” – Houston Bernard project, the former “bi-curious porno electro rapper” of New York City, who now resides here in his native Massachusetts. Bonfire Bandit play the Allston Village Street Fair this Sunday.

BODEGA GIRLS, “School Night” Great song, great video, and timely as fuck – because it’s a school night, kids.

Goodnight, thanks for listening (and then reading)
xoM.
