[mp3] DNFMOMD + Glenn di Benedetto of Parlour Bells "Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This)"
More than a decade later, we finally have something to wipe that gross-ass Marilyn Manson taste out of our collective Eurythmics fan-mouths. In advance of their gig together this Friday at the Lizard Lounge in Cambridge, sinister bass/drums/vocals stomp-rock duo DO NOT FORSAKE ME OH MY DARLING teamed up with Glenn Di Benedetto of noir-popsters PARLOUR BELLS to cover the 1983 new wave classic "Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This)." Your move, Merrily James.
Also down at the Liz that night, DNFMOMD will unveil their new music video for "First We Take Manhattan," a vicious Leonard Cohen cover that may have unexpectedly become the band's signature song. We here at Phoenix HQ are already lubing up the [awesome video alert], because shit, after their last visual release -- June's "Episode 1: Arrival" -- recreated a shot-by-shot, scene-by-scene account of the opening sequence to '60s British spy-fiction TV series The Prisoner, well hell, look up sweet child because the bar has been raised.
Feel free to go ahead and download the "Sweet Dreams" cover below, but hurry -- the link will wake up and self-destruct on Saturday. And for good measure -- it'll no longer be di Benedetto's birthday.
