[awesome video alert] Kingsley Flood "I Don't Wanna Go Home"
Another week, another awesome music video coming out of Boston. But this one from KINGSLEY "Fiddle Me This" FLOOD has bears in it -- criminally-minded, very feisty, non-hibernating bears! -- and they're all running amok in Garment District, Central Square, and a host of other locales around Cambridge towne. Kinda badass, and makes me hungry for a dirty palmful of choco Teddy Grahams.
Now, despite the outdoor snow scenes sending us evil shivers and reminding all that while it may be summer, winter here in Boston can be a cruel frigid bitch causing even the loveliest of wild animal to turn to a life of crime, the "I Don't Wanna Go Home" video comes at the perfect time. The Flood gang is gearing up for one hell of a party down in Newport next weekend, a sort of live show intermission/nightcap throwdown off-site away from the Newport Folk Festival madness July 30 at the Gas Lamp Grille.
From there the Americana cats named Best Roots Act in both our 2011 and 2012 Best Music Poll hit the KahBang Festival up in Maine August 12 (alongside My Morning Jacket, Surfer Blood, Grace Potter and endless crunchies who have successfully resisted the global hippie-dubstep takeover), honor a date the next night at 9:30 Club in DC, then a whip out a stint headlining the third-annual Word X Word Festival in Pittsfield on August 20. Busy bees!
"I Don't Wanna Go Home" is off Kingsley Flood's upcoming EP, currently being recorded at Q Division Studios with engineer Rafi Sofer (Mission of Burma). It's slated for a late-fall release. You know, when the snow returns and the bears go sleepytime. Well, the good ones, at least.
