Report: Akrobatik in stable condition after suffering heart attack

Music blog Hip Hop DX is reporting that AKROBATIK suffered a heart attack last night, also reporting that the Boston emcee "went into open heart surgery earlier today and is in stable condition following the procedure."

Terrible news. Deservedly, Akrobatik took home Best Rap Act in our 2009 Best Music Poll: "Even though he was facing off against such contemporaries (and longstanding Best Music Poll rivals) as Reks, Moe Pope, and Esoteric, it’s no surprise that Akrobatik smoked this category. First off, his extremely overdue sophomore full-length, Absolute Value (Fat Beats), finally dropped last year, and it far exceeded already high expectations. From tough cut “A to the K” with B-Real to the lyrical feat “Ak B Nimble” and the insightful banger “Kindred” featuring Chuck D, the effort was not just one of the best Boston rap discs of 2008 but one of the finest anywhere. And with his daily Sports Rap-Up segment on JAM’N 95.4 and his promo work for the NBA and the NFL, Ak has managed to align himself with a massive local audience that otherwise has no love for legitimate or authentic hip-hop."

Stay tuned, as we'll post details as they unfold...
