Oak Lonetree is the ultimate homegrown MC. Never perpetrating, always presenting nothing other than his weeded beer-gut self, the proud Waltham representative drops more discs, group projects, and mixtapes than Kool Keith and Lil Wayne combined.
For his last two projects, Oak teamed with Dese from The Camp for a pair of gluttonous offerings as The Dunnas. Now he's back in full swing with longtime wingman Egadz, a sometimes-Boston-based producer who doesn't get nearly enough props for his refreshingly naked (and sometimes epic) boom bap backdrops.
As someone whose goal has just been to get his music into as many hands as possible - whether they're paying for it or not - Oak took an interesting route this time around. I Must Be Dreaming is an e-book of sorts, complete with tracks for every page of degeneracy.
Like I always say - nobody knows how we'll be listening to music in a few years, but I think these two might be onto something. Be sure to stand by with a twelve-pack and listen to the cuts in order; think of it as a hybrid of a drinking game and Choose Your Own Adventure.
