Bang Camaro on Bang Camaro: Alex Necochea with the rock and roll dirt
Wondering what's up with Bang Camaro lately? Well, we awoke this morning to find a pretty interesting 2,900-word recap of the Boston gang's epic rise and fall, penned by founding guitarist Alex Necochea (who now dabbles in classic rock heroes Township). Pretty interesting stuff.
While we won't steal the page's thunder and let you read the dirt on their home field, we will point out that there's another Bang Camaro gig Nov. 12 at the Paradise Rock Club, where it all began, and that several of the Camaros are currently sprinkled throughout the city's music scene.
Here's what they're up to, in Necochea's words, with proper linkage to help you find your way:
While BC has been quiet for the last year, a lot of us remain active in other pursuits:
Bryn continues to work for Harmonix, where he spends long hours coding games like Rock Band: Beatles, Rock Band 3, and a slew of other ground-breaking projects we probably can’t talk about publicly.
Glen plays guitar for The Fatal Flaw.
Rodrigo sings and plays guitar in his own new band, those local rapscallions, BrownBoot.
Nick, Pete, Steve, and Graeme are working on a new project called Men Of Seas. I’m waiting for these guys to get it together and knock some life into the Boston music scene. They will release their first single in the next couple of weeks.
Doz is moonlighting as bassist for Boston locals The Auto Interiors.
And I have been playing my beat up guitars with my buddies John, Marc, and Greg in a group called Township. We released a greatest hits compilation earlier this year called “Township – Vol. 1” and continue to tour the US. Old habits die hard, and it turns out that for all the pitfalls, playing guitar in a rock band and touring truly is the greatest job in the world.
