MP3 of the Week: Southern Belle, "Walk Out"

Isom Innis — a/k/a SOUTHERN BELLE — tends to overanalyze things. This might spell trouble for him, but it’s really worked out for the rest of us. Take “Walk Out,” a ridiculously danceable slab of riled-up dreampop that you’d never guess was a cathartic purge piece about a lousy break-up until you sat and listened to it over and over on your headphones — and you will. When Innis was writing it, he was obsessed with Joy Division’s Unknown Pleasures, the Soulwax Part of the Weekend Never Dies DVD, and Radiohead’s Meeting People Is Easy documentary. However you choose to imagine that trio coming together in glorious pop form — do it. You’re probably spot-on. Just in case, nab your MP3 of “Walk Out” below.
