Come Support DJ Kon at Middlesex Next Monday (8/24)
DJs look out for each other. They cover gigs for one another, share clandestine information about which grooves grease backsides, and are always willing to help lug crates and coffins down stairs and through nightclub kitchens.
On Monday (August 24), cats including Supreme One, 7L, Miss Thang, Gucci Vuitton, and the Soul Clap guys will spin at Middlesex for their friend DJ Kon, who is currently under hospital care. The cover charge is $10, and all proceeds go to the Friends of Kon DJ Association. That's a wicked diverse line-up, but it takes that many record collections to adequately cover the promised spectrum that is "Kon-inspired music."
The last of an increasingly rare breed of dedicated crate spelunkers, Kon has for years brought his deep knowledge of obscure goodies to club and lounge gigs, and also to the masses through critically heralded releases on such respected imprints as ABB and BBE. With that said - come down next Monday to support and check some mighty beats; if that's not enough incentive - then come to make a statement that any healthcare system that doesn't cover our favorite turntablists needs serious reform.
