It's been a while since Eli "Paperboy" Reed has played a hometown show -- he's shacked up in New York now, but we caught up with him at Q Division over in Davis Square, where he's just come off a six-week tour and was cutting some demos for what will become his Virgin debut. He expects to begin recording in earnest this summer, and in the meantime he'll be on the road again, including a stop at SXSW and a headlining tour of 500+ seaters in Europe. In the video above, Eli reminisces about playing gospel music in Boston, spills the beans about his new deal with Virgin, talks about what his next record's gonna sound like, and reveals what he really thinks about Amy Winehouse. He's also blessed with having a headlining show tonight at the Middle East --which means technicall it's possible Bono will stop by after that little Somerville Theater gig everyone's talking about.
