Monkey business

Damn, almost forgot: some band called the Gorillaz is in town tonight. Damon/Jamie/Mouse action around 7:30 at Newbury Comix to sign the brand-spanking-new record, then FNX/Phoenix-sponsored jumpoff at Bill's Bar around 10:30-ish, where the boys behind the toons will partying with our boys Will Spitz and Paul Driscoll. It's one of those buy-the-record, get-a-wristband deals, but lining up outside Bill's around 8 might get you in, too, if you're tapped. We're not exactly sure about that, though, so call ahead.

Also in the Gorillaz cage tonight: "The Plan" DJ Carl Lavin (licking his wounds, no doubt, that the NYT didn't highlight his Great Scott night.) The former techno/dance promoter should nonetheless be wetting himself tonight, since he's spinning the party -- perhaps sharing decks with Danger and 'em? Don't tell him we told you, but Carl named his kid Damon after . . . yep: Damon Albarn. Does the kid get to meet his namesake, or what?
