Gordon: I'm leaving the GOP

The tiny House Republican caucus sustained a blow, last week, when Representative John Savage disclosed that he'd left the GOP. Now, it appears, another defection. Here's Representative Dan Gordon's tweet:

Well gents. May as well say it. I'm leaving the Party. This is the last straw. Press release Monday.

The tweet came in the midst of an online conversation about the Rhode Island GOP holding a fundraiser in Massachusetts. But Gordon had been estranged from the party leadership since a contretemps last fall over his criminal and military service records. The House GOP caucus expelled him in September.

I suspect no tears will be shed at Rhode Island GOP HQ. But still not a pleasant story for a party always struggling for relevance on Smith Hill.
