Legislative progressives win big

It was thought that Chuck Levesque, and possibly Rod Driver, might come up short last night, but they were among the progressive General Assembly candidates who pulled it out.

Progressives Win Big - Progressive candidates identified on this blog, in the Phoenix and supported by the Progressive Leadership Fund won HUGE victories last night.  Rep. David Segal said that, as a result, "Between the two chambers, it appears that our Progressive Caucus will nearly double in size."  Key victories included:

  • HD-22: Frank Ferri defeated John Wheeler
  • HD-28: Scott Guthrie defeated Steve Hart
  • HD-35: Michael Rice defeated James Haldeman
  • HD-36: Donna Walsh defeated David Cote & Matt McHugh
  • HD-39: Rod Driver defeated David Hathaway
  • HD-46: Mary Ann Shallcross-Smith defeated Bill McManus
  • HD-72: Amy Rice defeated Dan Reilly
  • HD-74: Deb Ruggiero defeated Bruce Long
  • HD-75: Peter Martin defeated Steve Coaty 
  • SD-11: Chuck Levesque defeated Chris Ottiano 
  • SD-13: Teresa Paiva-Weed defeated Donna Perry
  • SD-19: Dan Connors defeated Kathy Dennan
  • In addition, Fierro is the new Representative in HD-51 and incumbents Diaz, Williams, Ajello, Almeida, Dennigan, Sullivan, Perry,  Metts, Pacheco, Handy, Miller and Pichardo all cruised to victory.
