Live Chat: LOST, s06e13, "The Last Recruit"

First off: Can we talk about how maybe all this volcano nonsense is just a cover-up for the fact that Smokey has obviously gotten off the island? And if the thwarting of Adam Lambert's plan to shed glitter all over the British Isles is the worst consequence to come of it, maybe it’s not such a bad thing after all?

So, Hurley, even if your Flocke Summit is a total bust, we're still with you. Especially since your episode from last week -- like pretty much every Hurley-centric episode -- was a winner.

Things we really enjoyed about "Everybody Loves Hugo":
-Ilana's untimely explosion, which brought her less-than-stellar bodyguard career to a screeching, flamey halt
-Desmond's dapper new "Jesus goes yachting" look
-The scene where Jorge Garcia holds his real-life dog, Nunu
-Further exploration of the Sideways-Verse Losties' trace memories of the Island (for more on this, check out Doc Jensen's Lost recap, which considers the role of anamnesis)
-A tantalizing glimpse of the concept that love might be possible in the L.A.-verse after all

Things we really could have done without:
-The explanation of the whispers (although we do admire the ballsy nonchalance of that particular reveal)

All of which is to say that "Everybody Loves Hugo" proved a mighty fine episode indeed. Will tonight's installment continue the hot streak? We know that episode 13, "The Last Recruit," promises an important tete-a-tete between Smokey and Jack. And we're just going to go out on a limb here and guess that they'll also explore a weird new landmark and resurrect another buried Lostie in the Sideways-Verse.
