A very shamefaced DQM retraction

Yesterday evening, I knocked Globe reporter Meredith Goldstein for failing to document the (I suggested) somewhat salacious backstory of the marriage of Cass Sunstein and Samantha Power--who wed after meeting on the Obama campaign--in her piece on Obama's matchmaking powers.

I should have kept my mouth shut. First, as one of Goldstein's Globe colleagues pointed out to me earlier today, Sunstein's previous significant other, University of Chicago super-brain Martha Nussbaum, has indicated that she and Sunstein's separation preceded his relationship with Power. And second, Sunstein and Nussbaum were never married, my statement to the contrary notwithstanding.

My apologies to Goldstein--and to Sunstein, Power, and Nussbaum as well.
