NEON INDIAN [That Tent | Thursday, June 10 @ 8:30 p.m.]
If there's any lesson for new bands to take home from Bonnaroo, it's that the potential-audience ceiling can surpass an entire tour's worth of run-of-the-mill clubs and dive bars. Take, for example, a buzzworthy act like Neon Indian, currently riding the upswell of the chillwave wave: I would assume that Alan Palomo's group has not yet been able to pull a headlining gig at a venue with a capacity of more than a thousand, while their Thursday show at That Tent appeared to trump that number at least three times over. Palomo was visibly grateful for this opportunity and launched into a set of Psychic Chasms crowd pleasers. And even if there are better jams to ease us into the dog days than "Deadbeat Summer" and "Should Have Taken Acid With You," I didn't hear them this weekend.
