• Correction from last week: Credit should have been given to TJ SWAN and his STARFIGHT STUDIO for the nice production work on the SOPHOMORE BEAT EP. JONATHAN WYMAN just did the mixing. That was an oversight by Pfeifle. He's not all that bright sometimes. But you knew that.
• THIS WAY have put the finishing touches on Goodbye Forever, what we're hearing is an Americana-fueled second album from the band fronted by JAY BASINER. They've got May 21 at Port City circled for the release, with KINGSLEY FLOOD, ROOSEVELT DIME, and JESSE PILGRIM AND THE BONFIRE. ABEL ADAME did the recording down in the old ACADIA RECORDING CO. space. NOAH COLE handled mixing. Mastering was done at PEERLESS outside of Boston.
• Be on the lookout for folkie PUTNAM SMITH's third album. He'll have it ready June 4 or thereabouts.

- The State Theatre: This is actually going to work
There's no question that the reopening of the State Theatre has people in this town pretty damn excited. As photos of the reconstruction have leaked out, the fever has built, often almost completely irrespective of that bands that have so far been lined up to play its stage.
- The Cyborg Trio make it up as they go along
Portland hasn't had a band like the Cyborg Trio in while. They're almost certainly the best/only live all-instrumental dance band since Slowing Room stopped playing out (and they actually had some vocals sometimes). Also, Slowing Room had, well, songs.
