Saying Big Boi has flow is a gross understatement. The man has never encountered a beat too challenging for him to ride until the wheels fall off. Which is why Sir Lucious Left Foot is such a worthy return to form for the Georgia rapper after years squandered on less-than-stellar projects (Idlewild) and pushbacks that eventually saw him switch teams to Def Jam to get this released.
Here, he recruits a cast of producers ranging from the familiar (Dungeon Family compatriots Mr. DJ and Organized Noize) to the surprisingly appropriate (Scott Storch, Lil Jon) to craft a palette of dexterous futurist funk that seems to be a logical successor to the groundwork laid by 2003's Speakerboxxx. If spaceships had trunks, this would be the CD to cue up for a proper rattling. The only misstep is a glaring no-show from his OutKast significant other — thanks to more reported label fuckery at Jive Records.
In André 3000's place, we get standout guest spots from T.I. ("Tangerine") and Gucci Mane ("Shine Blockas"), and though both are at their braggadocious best, neither really warrants mentioning in the same breath as Three Stacks.
