How did the Polish filmmaker Malgoska Szumowska dupe the classy Juliette Binoche to participate in such a dubious, exploitative film? Binoche plays Anne, a Parisian journalist working on a story for Elle about college women who are secretly prostitutes. Frustrated by the drudgeries of her married-with-children life, Anne bonds with her interviewees and has masturbatory sexual fantasies imagining their trysts. That's a thin excuse for a series of distasteful soft-core sex scenes. For the audience, the sooner these voyeuristic interludes are over, the better. Ditto, this unpleasant movie.
