Mia Dyson at Toad
Toad
Australian singer-songwriter Mia Dyson is barely pushing 30, and yet her impossibly gravelly voice — as toothy and jagged as the wind-battered limestone cliffs dotting the coast of her home state of Victoria — sounds as if it had been ravaged by a good 50 years of nights spent sucking down whiskey and cigarettes and howling at the moon. After winning an ARIA (that’s an Aussie Grammy) for her 2005 album, Parking Lots, and touring with the likes of Eric Clapton and Bonnie Raitt, she’s set out to conquer the US. Lucky for us, she’s chosen to make Boston her temporary home base. See how much this Dyson doesn’t suck, at Toad, 1912 Mass Ave, Cambridge | 10 pm | free | 617.497.4950 or //www.toadcambridge.com.
