Roses are red, lilies are white, what terrible poetry have you managed to write? That’s the question of the evening at the first ever Massachusetts Bad Poetry Contest, which is hosted by erstwhile BC prof, journalist, and not-at-all terrible poet Steve Almond. Almond will celebrate the best of the worst poetry submitted by local aspiring scribes at a special event at the Massachusetts Poetry Festival. The six poets with the most godawful verse (we bet there will be more than a few limericks) will win a copy of Almond’s new book, Bad Poetry. Does a bad poem by any other name stink as much? We’ll find out.
