Novelist, journalist, and screenwriter PETE HAMILL has penned more than 20 novels, among them the excellent 1994 memoir A Drinking Life (Back Bay Books), which chronicled his coming of age in a hard-drinking, working-class neighborhood and family, and the ravaging — and ultimately redemptive — effect of the drink on his life. He stops by Porter Square Books to discuss his latest fictional effort, Tabloid City, a thoughtful thriller that paints the insular worlds of print journalism and Manhattan with Hamill’s unflinchingly honest and perceptive narrative brush.
