MORE ABOUT ALLYSSA JONES
Allyssa Jones' debut CD, "Daughter's Dance," reveals traces of her family's eclectic record collection, which included everything from Carole King and James Taylor to The Temptations and Earth, Wind & Fire. Although trained in classical piano and voice, it was her later introduction to jazz that would inspire her core sound and artistic aesthetic. Add to all of this her passion for jazz, neo-soul and guitar-driven pop, and it becomes clear why she insists on blending the styles that speak to her most.
While cutting her teeth in Chicago, Allyssa appeared in Southport Records' annual "Women of Southport Jazz Festival." As a songwriter, Jones' compelling melodies and poignant lyrics earned her honors in the 2004 Billboard International Songwriting Competition.
Now based in Boston, Allyssa was named one of Boston Magazine's "40 Bostonians to Watch". She is currently at work on her second independent CD to be released in April 2009.
