Say you're driving a giant 16-wheel trailer truck and you see a huge lighted sign reading NO TRUCKS. I'd expect you put to two and two together, but apparently more than a few mother-truckers are blind, illiterate, inattentive, heedless, or just plain stupid. I say this with some authority because I've seen with my own eyes this very day, three — count ’em — three large, boxy transport vehicles pulled over on Soldiers Field Road/Storrow Drive between the River Street Bridge and BU.

Tickets for Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band’s dual Boston shows in November went on sale this morning at 10 A.M., and at about 10:01 A.M., they were sold out.

Normally, I wouldn’t be shocked and appalled, but when I’m one of the huddled, sleep-deprived masses who pulls himself out of bed 10 minutes early to pay my economic tribute to The Boss, you think the gods would smile on me a bit.

Last week, nine extras were injured on the set of the new Bryan Singer-directed movie, Valkyrie, starring Tom Cruise as the Nazi officer who attempted to assassinate Hitler. The extras received only slight injuries--minor bruises and scrapes--when a side panel broke off the truck, slinging them out. They have hired a lawyer and are threatening to sue United Artists for exhibiting "inhuman indifference" to their health unless "rapidly compensated."
