Heath Ledger found dead

Actor Heath Ledger was found dead today in a downtown Manhattan apartment, according to multiple reports. He was 28.

Ledger was an Oscar nominee for Brokeback Mountain in 2006, and had recently wrapped filming his role as The Joker in The Dark Knight.

UPDATE: The New York Times has more details: the apartment where Ledger was found was "inhabited" by Mary-Kate Olsen. Also, the authorities are now suspecting a suicide.
