See these films: The Seventh Seal + Wild Strawberries @ the Brattle [As part of the Cyrus Harvey Jr. memorial retrospective]

Cyrus Harvey Jr., who passed away two weeks ago, at the age of 85, helped give the US its first taste of the heady pleasures of foreign and independent movies. His Janus Films distribution company was one of the first to bring the works of great directors like Ingmar Bergman, Akira Kurosawa, and Federico Fellini to these shores. And the Brattle Theatre, which he co-founded, has long been an iconic cinema institution. This week the Brattle honors Harvey's memory by screening a few of the films he introduced to America, among them today's offerings, Ingmar Bergman's Wild Strawberries (1957) and The Seventh Seal (1957).
