DESIGNER DRUGS @ Middle East
NYC duo Designer Drugs have long ruled the remix circuit, crushing dance floors with reboots of everyone from Little Boots to Mariah Carey. Now the electro-dustrial production team darken the clubs to their own lethal beat: Hardcore/Softcore is a relentless Ultra Records debut featuring brash post-banger electronix and guest drops by Annie and Cerebral Vortex.
DANSER @ Milky Way
Remember watching Adam Ant on MTV back in the ’80s and thinking you could dance better than that choad? Danser finally gives you the chance to prove it, as the JP new-wave party tonight hosts a dance competition with a cash prize to the winner. Don’t stand, just deliver.
Good Life halloween from jeff gilbride on Vimeo.
It apparently took just seven hours to transform The Good Life into a full-scale haunted house. The Financial District bar and lounge is home to some of the better Halloween dance parties and live shows in Boston this week and weekend -- with nary a cover set in sight! -- so it was fitting that the place went balls out to create an ultra-spooky atmosphere for all the boys and ghouls.
MAKE IT NEW WITH DJ BLOODY MARY @ Middlesex Lounge
Berlin-based techno diva Bloody Mary claims that her album Black Pearlwas inspired by Charles Baudelaire. Whether that's like an indie band citing Oscar Wilde as an influence remains to be seen, but either way, this self-professed decadence seems suited for the fleurs du mal of Make It New’s dance floor.
@ Good Life
United Styles 6 descends on Boston this weekend, but the World B-Boy Cup afterparty at Good Life is where the true playas pop bottles. DJs On & On, Brek. One, and others throw down the reggae and hip-hop across two floors, with plenty of breakin’, poppin,’ and lockin’ to go around.
