Harpers Ferry in Allston is closing on Halloween night. Rumors circulated earlier this week that the Brighton Avenue bar and live music venue was shutting down by the end of the year, but this morning Harpers Ferry confirmed that the end of a four-decade run is not only in sight, but closer than anticipated.
It didn’t take long for the Boston rock scene to help one of its own. On two weeks notice, The Luxury, Streight Angular, Gene Dante and Dead Cats Dead Rats took to the Harper’s Ferry stage Saturday night and raised roughly $750 for Ben Grenville Garceau. The former vocalist for Gravehaven/Roman Traffic was seriously injured in an accident last month, and is currently recovering at his home in New Hampshire.
