When THE KILLERS recorded their annual holiday single -- a tradition they stole from R.E.M., but have made amusing use of -- they didn't forget their old friends WILD LIGHT, who opened a tour for Vegas's finest back when 2009 was young. Released just in time for World AIDS Day, "Happy Birthday Guadalupe" comes with a video that suggests they got December 1 confused with November 1.
Each one, teach one: we love WILD LIGHT, but we get the sense from this video that someone from Columbia called them up one day and said, "Hey, you guys need to do one of those contests where fans make their own video for your song!" Well, OK, we get that sense because that's very close to a direct quote from this video.
Currently being seen by a lot more eyes as the opening band on the Killers' current tour, Wild Light is a band we can say we knew way back when. Catch them above at a show they played not long ago at Great Scott, just before they left to get famous. After the jump, another video.
New Hampshire's WILD LIGHT are playing Great Scott this coming Wednesday, and you might want to check that show out -- because the next time you see 'em, they'll be playing arenas . . . opening for the Killers. The band announced today that they've been tapped to open the Killers' midwestern headlining jaunt, kicking off with some bazonkers show at a Las Vegas casino.
