near obsessive compulsion with Facebook paid off in a big way last
Sunday night when I checked my phone before I went to bed -- sad, I
know. I spotted this little gem of a blog post on LCD SOUNDSYSTEM's fanpage at 1:02 AM, announcing that they
were planning a re-release of 1,500 tickets to their
hella-sold-out Madison Square Garden farewell concert.
Me attempting to review last night's LCD Soundsystem show at the Orpheum can best be likened to me reviewing pizza. Or my parents. My fanboy tendencies for James Murphy know no bounds. But I can say without bias that of the three times I've seen the band on this tour in support of This Is Happening (with the previous two coming at festivals), this was far and away the best performance.
The lineup for this year's installment of the Coachella music and arts festival was announced today. The headliners: Jay-Z on Friday, Muse on Saturday, and the Gorillaz on Sunday. Reunited favorites Faith No More and Pavement play on Saturday and Sunday, respectively, while chart-toppers Vampire Weekend show up on Friday.
