Don't get us wrong: PALMDALE is the funnest thing KAY HANLEY has done since LETTERS TO CLEO. We think of her, first and foremost, as a power-pop girl, and there have been times when we've enjoyed her hired-gun material more than her serious-solo stuff. Now that she's given up writing Hits for the Kids and decided to start writing Hits for herself, we're solidly back on the team.
We should've known, last week when KAY HANLEY tweeted her New Year's resolution to become AMANDA PALMER's new BFF,
that this would happen sooner rather than later. Last night Palmer
showed up at Kay Hanley's solo gig at the Lizard Lounge, and the two
performed a loose duet on one of Palmer's new favorite covers, the old
ragtime standard "Makin' Whoopee." Everyone knows we can't resist these
two separately, let alone together, singing a song about fucking. OMFG.
I can't believe they didn't invite us. Thankfully, an astute viewer
uploaded it immediately to the Tubes. Check out the performance after the jump.
