We here at the Phoenix have been tracking the progress of Corin Tucker's first post-Sleater-Kinney solo album very closely. Now we have our first actual taste of 1,000 Years, her forthcoming Kill Rock Stars release. It's called "Riley" "Doubt," and while it's definitely not the return of Sleater-Kinney, it still succeeds on its own merits.
Thanks to YouTube -- and a recent Carrie Brownstein interview that included the words "Sleater-Kinney reunion" -- we've been thinking a lot lately about what the hell ever happened to CORIN TUCKER. Janet Weiss got QUASI back together. Carrie became a semi-famous NPR bloggist and part-time radio personality. By the time Corin put up a Facebook fan page, everyone knew a solo album was in the works.
So the recent Sleater-Kinney reunion non-news left me excited enough to have possibly given short shrift to the real story here: Corin Tucker's return to making music after a long break. She announced on her Facebook page earlier this month that she is indeed recording a solo album and posted a bunch of pictured of her in the studio.
