Quilt's SXSW tour crewOur last stop on tour before Austin was Orlando, where QUILT played Orange You Glad Festival, a four-day fest also featuring Cults, Tennis, Grimes, and others. The festival drew a notable amount of artists on tour en route to SXSW, similarly to the Savannah Stopover Festival that Quilt played a few nights earlier.
We finally made it to Austin around 11:45 on Monday night. We headed straight to Club 1808, where QUILT played a set just after midnight.
It's been an inspiring ten days of new faces and spaces all over the East coast. Here are some more snapshots of what it looked and sounded like:
Quilt playing the Pilot Light in Knoxville, TN on Wednesday night.
After our stop in Virginia, QUILT's journey southward brought us to Chapel Hill, NC, where the trio played with Brooklyn indie rock quintet Cavemen at Local 506. The following night, we ventured westward to Knoxville, TN, where Quilt played the Pilot Light with their good buddies PRINCE RAMA
Props to MMOSS, QUILT, and PRINCE RAMA, a trio of bands with varying Boston ties, for getting invited to this April's fifth-annual Austin Psych Fest. Last year Ghost Box Orchestra were asked to come down to Texas by the Black Angels, and performed in the city's abandoned 1950s Seaholm Power Plant. It's a pretty awesome lineup, headlined by Brian Jonestown Massacre, the Black Lips, and the Angels.
Sweet mistress autumn, where have you gone? It’s kinda fucked how the selfish year-end holidays come along to seduce us away from the greatest season of the year, and by the time you’re frantically pulling up your pants the next morning you glance outside making sure your ride wasn't towed only to find a frigid snow dusting blanketing the ground in cold white evil.
