Welcome to the church of rock and roll. Set your alarms Sunday morning as WFNX welcomes JAPANDROIDS to our studio for a noon-time takeover session and conversational chat with Liz Pelly of the Phoenix. We'll let SPIN's 2012 Band of the Year pick out a bunch of songs to spin on-air, talk about their incredible record Celebration Rock (which is sure to dominate everyone's Best-Of lists), and get us all warmed up for their sold-out show with DIIV later that night at the Paradise Rock Club
On Monday morning, Vancouver garage rock duo JAPANDROIDS released their new music video for 2012's undisputed call-to-arms anthem "The House That Heaven Built," and the tour-diary footage has a few recognizable parts filmed in Boston: the van cruising through either the Ted Williams or Tip O'Neill tunnel, the deep stage and long brick wall of Brighton Music Hall, and a girl passed out on Brighton Avenue either after or during the band's sold-out June 26 show at the Allston venue.
Earlier today, JAPANDROIDS finally released a video for their 2012 Song Of The Year nominee, "The House That Heaven Built," and it's a fun little black-and-white journey with the band on tour across America, felating bottles of Jack Daniel's, tearing up ridiculously packed music venues from coast to coast, shotgunning beers, packing up the van, and shooting at some molotov cocktails in the woods.
