It should be a big autumn season for the dapper and personable dudes in PRETTY & NICE. Following up last year's Fantastic Artifact 7-inch off New York's Black Bell Records, which gave us new track "Yonkers" and a freakin' Genesis cover, the Boston joy-pop band has a new EP of fresh, hooky, goodness ready to hit the oven.
Throughout the last two or three days, several earthquakes hit major metropolitan areas -- Los Angeles had a minor shake yesterday, and a severe one in Italy killed 16 while injuring 150 -- reigniting talk of the end of days. While Florida suffers from the beginning of the zombie apocalypse, bees die off in mass numbers, and natural disasters destroy buildings, public works, and my faith in the federal government, the Mayan calendar slowly counts down to our doomsday.
OK, real talk -- we loved that EARTHQUAKE PARTY record we posted earlier today so hard that we just -- seriously, like five minutes ago -- added them to Monday's free WFNX Disorientation gig with rad Floridian indie rock bros SURFER BLOOD.
It all goes down less than a week from now at the Lansdowne Pub on Lansdowne Street, and all you need to do to get on the guest list is click the link below and RSVP.
Yes! The long-awaited debut EARTHQUAKE PARTY cassette, -- if you don't count the live online release we did with the lovely Allston trio over the summer, ahemz'ies -- has finally been posted online. Recorded with Jeremy Mendicino (Pretty & Nice) at Esthudio in Brighton, Vs Pizza is a mother-f'ing sonic tornado, three songs clocking in at around five minutes total.
Union Square in Somerville certainly was blowing the fuck up this past Friday night. Not only did Radio open in grand fashion with the likes of the Organ Beats and Sidewalk Driver christening the new venue in glittery rock delight, but down the fine street of Somerville Avenue two of On The Download's new favorite Boston-area bands were ripping the roof off PA's Lounge.
