I sometimes get annoyed at people who feel a burning desire to rail against the alleged “capitalist system,” because by my estimation, we have no more say in whether to stay within the confines of capitalism than we do to disobey the laws of gravity. Accrued interest, cash as a substitute for barter, wealth begetting more wealth, these aren’t necessarily voted-on concepts so much as laws of finance-via-human-nature that guide our interactions with each other.
That's pretty much the size of it, actually. As most of you are aware, this is not by any means the first time Amanda has tweeted n00dz. But this time the photo by one of our fave photogs, Kelly Davidson. And this historic milestone (in Palmer's tweet, "$1,000,000 OF PURE FUTURE ARTMUSIC ASSKICKING") was reached one day after she hosted a live webcast from the MIT Media Lab -- a place where, as she emailed us yesterday, "they might be able to build me technology to crowdsurf over fans while playing their hands as 'conductive' instruments.
Earlier today we posted about the fund-raising success of AMANDA PALMER, who in one day pulled in more than a quarter-million dollars from more than 5,000 backers via Kickstarter.
The one-time Dresden Doll has finished recording a new record in Australia with her new project, GRAND THEFT ORCHESTRA, and yesterday set a Kickstarter goal of $100,000 to help finish and promote the album as well as fund a tour, art book, and other cool stuff.

Yesterday, AMANDA PALMER walked into her record label headquarters, and demanded an advance of around $100,000 for a new record, a tour, an art book, and a bunch of other cool shit she wanted to accomplish and/or release by the end of 2012.
