Well, we made it. Barely.
Roughly 60 hours, more than 2,000 miles and, remarkably, zero fatalities later, THE NEW HIGHWAY HYMNAL, BEARSTRONAUT, filmmaker Sam Greenfield, and myself crashed into Austin around 5am this moring. Thanks to a hookup by the Phoenix’s Chris Fara1, we were able to park Brucie our Vanya Records prison bus in a lot not far from the Fader Fort By Converse.

As proud Bostonians who are psyched on our local scene, it bummed us out that so many Boston-based labels, blogs, bands, and other curators couldn't afford the trip to Austin this year. We wanted to make sure they were all represented at SXSW12 in some way.

After our stop in Virginia, QUILT's journey southward brought us to Chapel Hill, NC, where the trio played with Brooklyn indie rock quintet Cavemen at Local 506. The following night, we ventured westward to Knoxville, TN, where Quilt played the Pilot Light with their good buddies PRINCE RAMA
Days five and six of YOU CAN BE A WESLEY's tour. We played in Nashville with some phenomenal southern guitar-rock bands and, to our luck, ran into an old friend from Boston who put us up for the night. The next day we had off, so we once again took the bikes off of the back of the van and explored the city. I'm posting from a cafe in Nashville, during the middle of what feels like a monsoon.
