There are some events that warrant my coming out of temporary rap writing retirement to light a post up. One of those occasions is when my favorite rap troupe to come out of Boston in a minute teams up with an MC who I hold on a pedestal above all others.
The other instance, that in this case called for me to get blogging, was that the resulting track of the scenario described above – despite being low down, thoughtful, and filthy underground – got a small slice of commercial shine, and is featured in the new Converse X UNDFTD ad.

warms my winter soul when anything that's worthwhile in rap catches
some buzz in its sail. So I'm ecstatic that the Allston-spawned Grey
Sky Appeal is getting wet and sloppy love from hip-hop fans and
hipster dweebs everywhere, and that they're taking extra steps to
match their sound with avant-garde videos.
Easily two of the best tracks off two of the best hip-hop albums of the summer - in Boston or anywhere else. Be sure to check Slaine's A World With No Skies 2.0, and Grey Sky Appeal's self-titled debut. I've listened to both over and over for the past few weeks and, aside from the suicidal fantasies they've both induced, I've got nothing but positive reviews.
