It's a Labor Day edition of Boston Accents -- and the first one with me in the pilot seat. Woo! Tune in to WFNX 101.7 FM every Sunday night for the best in New England-bred rock and pop, as well as local show news, notes, and my usual ragtime bullshit sessions.

Fiends in Human Shape - "Death Won’t Find You," off debut EP We Will Burn The Very Heavens; performing live at T. T. The Bear's in Cambridge on Sept 19. That hand up there -- that hand is a attached to a man in human shape part of the body of a Fiend in Human Shape.

Felix & Volcano - "Got Luv Fer Now," new track from New Hampshire electro-pop duo, featuring former Phoenix intern Sam Ueda, recorded live last month in an Allston living room; get the song off via On The Download.

28 Degrees Taurus - "Turn Me On," off 2010's All The Stars In Your Eyes.

Soccer Mom - "[A] Natural History," new track off debut EP You Are Not Going To Heaven, getting the proper release party treatment Friday, September 23 at T.T. The Bear's with a reunited Emergency Music as well as Autochrome and Marconi. Pro BA tip: get an advance ticket for this one, kids.

Blackboard Nails - “She Wants,” rock trio featuring Eric Deneen formerly of Baby Strange.

Grey Valley Ghost - “The Way We Kill,” off self-titled record, released Wednesday, September 7 at T.T. The Bear's in Cambridge; it's also this week's Mp3 of the Week in the Boston Phoenix, and it fucking slays.

Team Spirit - “Jesus, He’s Alright,” unreleased demo from the new project of Ayad from Passion Pit. Because we're tight bros for life, it was kicked over to the Phoenix back in July

Girlfriends - “Cave Kids;” sorry I have no interesting tidbit here, Girlfriends just rule.

Kingsley Flood - “I Don’t Wanna Go Home,” released over the summer, new EP set to drop over three nights at the Lizard Lounge in Cambridge, December 8, 9 and 10. Details in the Boston Phoenix fall preview out in a few weeks.

The Wandas - “Do Or Die,” album release party Thursday, September 9 at Berklee's Cafe 939; read Barry Thompson's Cellars by Starlight column on the new record in this Thursday's PHX.

You Can Be A Wesley - “Talking Science,” which will be included along with "Old In Florida" and four new tracks on the brtand spankin' new Nightosphere EP, out this fall.

Age Rings - “Important Guy,” off the double-album Black Honey, which gets the re-polish/re-boot treatment this fall after being picked up to Midriff Records.

Soft Pyramids - “Dwightsnake,” lead track from this year's fantastic Electric Scenes record and a former Mp3 of the Week in the Phoenix back in March.

HOUR TWO

Andre Obin - “Gazelle,” ace tune off 2010's Front Runner EP. Pro BA tip: wait untl you hear the White Light remix of "Cinnamon" that Casey Desmond just finished up. Incredible dance floor track.

SPF 5000 - “White Hot Fantasy,” new bass-heavy dirty electro jam; tons of new singles out this fall, releasing a bunch on November 11 at Radio in Somerville with Mitten, Lovewhip, and Straight Angular.

Herra Terra - “Ejection Seats,” Central Massachusetts dark dance-pop gents, hitting Breakaway Billiards in Clinton on Sept. 9.

Hooray For Earth - “Sails,” NYC/Cambridge quartet, off this year's epic True Loves album.

Black Light Dinner Party - “Small Boxes,” electronic project from four anonymous NYC/Boston producers, was Mp3 of the Week last month.

Dom - "Family of Love," first track from this summer's EP of the same name, scoring high praise from our lil alt-weekly

Slowdim - “Wishing Well,” the reverb mix off February's Spirals EP, at T.T.'s this Thursday September 8 and another former Mp3 of the Week'er

Parlour Bells - “Pet Names,” which kicks off the noir-pop duo's Heart Beatings EP; the crusade to perform the Faces Nightclub Demolition Party continues

The Good North - “Always Works Out Wrong,” off 2004's Life Outside Our Walls EP via Primary Voltage Records. Singer Luke O'Neil drafted a fairly decent team in today's You Know How It Is fantasy football draft, a Boston rock tastemaker league that also features Zack Wells of Born of Fire, Max Fresen of the Information, Paul Driscoll of WFNX, Carl Lavin of Great Scott, Boston music producer Bob Logan, a bunch of other flash cats, and yours truly (Pro BA tip: my Allston Bed Bugzzz is the 2011 favorite to win it all).

Technoir MA - “Roundabout,” former Boston duo with a sharp New Order sound, taking their name from the nightclub Arnold Schwarzenegger shoots up in 1984's The Terminator. Colin Green of Technoir MA is now an English teacherin Taiwan, and today is his birthday.

OldJack - “Chorus Line,” released back in January, and still one of the best Boston tracks of 2011.
